Expedition 3037: research in your own neighbourhood.

Recently the Centre for the Arts in Rotterdam published a report of an educational art project I worked on: ‘Expeditie 3037’.

Unfortunately only in Dutch, but I hope the publication still may inspire you: http://issuu.com/anton_klein/docs/090713_cbk-imelda_weblr

Expedition 3037: research in your own neighbourhood.

"Students in the age of 10-12 of Imelda School Rotterdam have explored and accurately mapped the district where their school is located. Where do children play, what stories can you find, how does the neighbourhood look like when you look at it from above? Armed with equipment (audio recorders, cameras, binoculars, magnifying glasses, seal bags and compasses) they slowly but surely explored their own neighbourhood in Rotterdam.”

Hello Anton,

Thank you for sharing this project with us. I looked it up on your website as well and found some interesting questions that you present there (translated from Dutch):

Who lives in the neighbourhood? Where are the playgrounds? Is it safe in the neighbourhood? Where is the art in the neighbourhood? And what would I like to change?

I think these are very important for children to reflect on and the project seems like a great opportunity to get acquainted and more closely connected to their immediate surroundings.

Looking forward to learn more about your other projects later!

Hey Anton,

ziet er interessant uit! Als je dit ook graag aan Vlaamse collega's bekend maakt, kan je het ook posten op www.bruismee.be .

Groet! Piet
