Short bio
Piet Forger is the founder and coordinator of Vitamine C. Vitamine C is a network in Flanders, Belgium of people working in the cultural field, both in practice and in policy, who stand up for art and culture as vital vitamins for children and youngsters (see www.bruismee.be). Vitamine C had its kick off in 2011 and already in 2012, it received the Prize from the Minister for Culture in Flanders for Cultural Education.
Piet Forger is also the coordinator of Vlabra’ccent, the umbrella organization of almost 50 cultural centers in the province of Flemish Brabant.

Besides this Piet Forger is a member of the National Cultural Advisory Body for the Minister of culture in Flanders about all legislation and all issues concerning cultural centers, libraries, cultural associations, cultural education, local cultural policy, intercultural dialogue, arts education, etc. For almost 15 years, he is the president of the board of fABULEUS (www.fabuleus.be ), a high-level theatre company, working with and for young people; member of the board of “30CC” (www.30CC.be ) the cultural center in the city of Leuven; and member of the board of Magda (www.magdanet.be ) the culture and education platform of the city of Leuven and the province of Flemish Brabant, a network of organizations focusing on culture & education.

For more then 5 years (2001-2006) he has been the deputy director of CultuurNet Vlaanderen (www.cultuurnet.be ), an organization whose overall mission is the broadening and intensification of public participation in the cultural life of the Flemish Region. Before that he was the director of the umbrella of all cultural centers in Flanders (www.cultuurcentra.be ). Some of the publications he coordinated are: “Cultural participation of disadvantaged groups”, “XS, about Children, Culture and Communication” and “From education to matchmaking”.
Piet Forger is also listed as an expert for the Culture (2007-2013) and the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission.
