In the exhibition hall in Mozambique’s capital, Maputo, 85 young Mozambicans presented the fruits of their newly gained creative skills. They have gained their skills through a nation-wide project that was brought out by the Mozambique National Commission for UNESCO with support from UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD). The project was made to help young unemployed people to gain new skills in arts, as well as lessons in business management, including marketing and legal issues. Paulino Ricardo, Department Head of Culture and Information at the National Commission, stated that the idea behind the project was to help unemployed people to create their own jobs in an industry with potential. “This was a pilot experience that can be used as reference for youth policy makers in the country.” Mr Ricardo concluded.
